Every PC or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, as well as any apps that are present on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, which means that you'll be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs on the market and we provide all 3 instead of only 1 because we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're various software applications you can install on the web server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you would like to use one and that is why we offer multiple Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you need a different OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you would like. We also offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

The dedicated server packages that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also considered to be among the most reliable and secure OSs. We provide three different ones because each one of them is supported by a different community. The packages which you can add on your server are different and this may matter in case you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you will pick. You may choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if necessary, we can always set up the server once again with another one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the package whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
